Heads up for Greene County residents on Medicare, new cards are starting to be issued.
Iowa Medicare Beneficiaries are being issued new Medicare cards to better protect against identity theft. The new cards started being mailed this month and will go through April of 2019. The new cards will no longer have an individual’s Social Security number on them. Rather they will have a specific number just for that individual. An individual’s benefits and coverage will remain the same.
Senior Health Insurance Information Program (SHIIP) counselors urge anyone who is on Medicare to verify that their address is correct on the US Social Security Administration website by clicking the link below or by calling 1-800-772-1213. For more information contact a SHIIP counselor at the Greene County Medical Center at 386-2114.
