The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office was recently approved to add a new vehicle to their fleet.
Sheriff Chad Leonard said as opposed to typical purchase requests, which are to replace existing vehicles, this request was to increase the size of the fleet. He explained, they hired additional deputies last year and wanted to get them a new patrol vehicle right away. However, other purchases to replace damaged or aging vehicles took precedence, and they put off adding to the fleet.
The new vehicle is a 2018 Dodge Charger, purchased for $24,864 from Stew Hansen’s Dodge in Des Moines. It was approved by the Board of Supervisors, and will be paid as a normal line item on the Sheriff’s Office budget.
