StuartAt the end of this week the Stuart People Active for Library Service (PALS) will be hosting a used book sale fundraiser for the library. Though the library support group has met for less than two years, they are continuing to find ways to benefit the library and the Stuart community.

The organization is the second non-profit benefiting the library. PALS President Carol Brewer explains the difference between PALS and the longstanding Stuart Library Foundation. “Their main mission is mainly fundraising, to purchase those larger items and help with the library. Where the PALS organization is really a support group through advocacy for the library. Volunteer help, donations, (and) we do some fundraising. That fundraising is for special projects, programs, and other needs that aren’t really covered under the budget from the City.”

There are around 60 members in the organization. Meetings are the second Tuesday of every month, beginning at 6:30pm at the library. Brewer says she likes to keep the meetings under an hour to accommodate busy schedules. Memberships are $10 for singles and $25 for families, however you do not need to be a member to attend the meetings.
