The individuals involved in Monday evening’s two-vehicle wreck on Highway 169 near Bouton have been identified.
According to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, a pickup driven by Michael Hansen of Bouton was traveling north on 169 approaching the interchange with Highway 141. At that time, an SUV driven by Woldemichael Gebremichael of Kent, Washington ran the stop sign at the off-ramp from 141 and struck Hansen’s vehicle. The momentum of the collision caused the truck to crash through a light pole before striking the overpass bridge on the west side and coming to rest. The SUV wound up in the east ditch near the on-ramp to 141.
Hansen was examined by Dallas County Emergency Medical Services on scene and then transported by ambulance to Dallas County Hospital with unknown injuries. No other injuries were reported, though both vehicles were totalled. Gebremichael was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. The wreck slowed traffic in both directions on 169, as well as exiting traffic from 141, for nearly an hour as the scene was cleaned up. The incident is currently under investigation by the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.
The Bouton and Woodward Fire Departments, Woodward Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Dallas County EMS responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it’s made official.
