The Greene County Board of Supervisors met Monday in regular session.

The Board approved a proclamation for National Infant Immunization Week of April 21st through the 28th, as per Greene County Public Health’s request. Additionally, the Board approved a public drainage system protection and road use and repair agreements with MidAmerican Energy as presented. The Board then affirmed to County Environmental Health Administrator Chuck Wenthold to issue construction permits to the utility company to build 85 wind turbines in the northeastern portion of the county.

During open forum, Assistant County Attorney Thomas Laehn talked to the Board about creating a county-wide policy regarding public records requests. He said he consulted with the Iowa Attorney General’s office, as well as the Iowa Public Information Board, and the county can charge an individual for copies of county records. He added that other counties have gone so far as to stipulate that the first 30-minutes for a request to be fulfilled are free and then they start charging for copies. The Board agreed to create a policy.

Rippey resident George Miller then addressed the Board. He had a concern that semis traveling on County Road P-46 through Rippey are going faster than the posted 25-miles-per-hour speed limit. His other concern was safety for the kids that play in that area and are not paying attention to traffic. The Board decided to look for a solution.
