At least one individual was taken to Dallas County Hospital with unknown injuries Monday afternoon after a two-vehicle wreck occurred near the intersection of highways 169 and 141.
Bouton Fire Chief Ken Cavanaugh told Raccoon Valley Radio it appeared the wreck happened after an SUV entered Highway 169 from the eastbound off ramp from Highway 141. It struck a pickup truck traveling in the northbound lanes, which caused the truck to run into a light pole. The truck crashed through the pole and wound up striking the overpass bridge on the west side. The SUV wound up in the ditch near the eastbound on ramp to 141. When emergency crews arrived, the door of the pickup couldn’t be opened, but Dallas County Emergency Medical Service members were able to remove the occupants on the passenger side. At least one individual was injured in the wreck, and taken by ambulance to Dallas County Hospital, though the extent of the injuries are unknown at this time.
The wreck slowed traffic in both directions on 169, as well as exiting traffic from 141 for nearly an hour as the scene was cleaned up. The Bouton and Woodward Fire Departments, Woodward Police Department, Dallas County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, and Dallas County EMS responded to the scene. Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it’s made official.
