A West Central Valley High School student recently received the honor of being named the first winner of the Warren Cultural Center’s All Media School Art Competition. Senior Becca Winfred won the competition with her graphite pencil drawing, “Dean.” She received $25 and a blue ribbon. Kiley Krantz, also from West Central Valley High School, received second place for her marker drawing, “Dragons.” She received $20 and a red ribbon. WCV High School art teacher Marcus Claire also received a combined $90 for art supplies.

The contest, sponsored by the Warren Cultural Center in Greenfield, was designed to encourage young people to explore art in the classroom. Four schools participated, and over 20 entries were submitted for the inaugural event. The center hopes to make this an annual event going forward, with increased participation from area school districts.
