Those looking to beautify their homes this spring can purchase trees through Alliant Energy’s “Operation Releaf” program.
Alliant Energy customers can purchase up to two trees from several varieties. Those include: Northern Red Oak, White Oak, Ohio Buckeye, American Elm Princeton, Star Magnolia “Centennial,” Tulip, White Spruce and Norway Spruce. Cost per tree is $25 and reservations for trees are accepted now through May 4th. All applications must be submitted, along with payment, to the Greene County Extension office by May 4th.
Trees must be picked up on May 12th between 9 to 10:30am at the Greene County Fairgrounds in Jefferson. The trees are on a first come, first served basis, with limited number available.
The program is sponsored by Alliant Energy, Greene County Extension, Iowa Department of Natural Resources-Bureau of Forestry and Greene County Conservation Board. Forms are available at the Extension office.
