The Perry boys and girls track teams opened up the outdoor season last night with the annual running of the Davis Relays. The Bluejays placed 3rd out of six teams while the Jayettes finished 5th. The Des Moines Christian boys and the Panorama girls won their respective team titles. Highlights for the Jayettes included the sprint medley, placing 1st with a time of 2:00.50 (fastest time since 2010). Jasmine Shriver ran a great 3rd leg to put Sidney Vancil in a position to run away from the field.
Grace Stewart was 3rd in the 3000 (11:40.79) and 2nd in the 1500 (5:32.86) both personal best times.
The distance medley placed 1st with a time of 4:45.83. Sidney Vancil anchored the relay with a 2:32, making up a distance of 50 meters, taking Perry from 3rd to 1st.
The Perry boys had a number of strong showings with Brandon Kenyon placing 2nd in the 800 in a time of 2:11.36. Perry also finished second and third in the 400 meter dash with Kaleb Olejniczak clocking in at 54.17 and Tyler Fessler 55.45. Fessler also placed 2nd in the 200 meter dash.
