The outdoor debut of the 2018 Panorama boys and girls track teams came Thursday evening in Perry. The Gail Davis Relays provided the Panthers plenty of competition against larger schools such as Perry, Carroll, and Winterset. The Panorama girls track team won the meet championship with 167 points, winning 10 of 19 events. The Panther boys track team placed fourth out of six teams with 96 points.
The Panther girls track team won a mixture of sprinting events, long-distance races, hurdles, relays, and field events. Senior Devyn Kemble registered a hat trick at Jim Kauffman Track, claiming victories in the 100, 200, and 400-meter dash. Her 100 time came in at 13.46 seconds; her 200-meter time at 27.57 seconds and she clocked a quarter mile in 1:03.53. Morgan Johnk opened her junior year with a top finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.5 seconds. Freshman Ella Waddle began her high school outdoor career with a first-place finish in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:31.69. Junior Lydia Knapp claimed first place in the discus throw with a top toss of 109’10′”. The Panthers relays shined as well, winning the 4×100, 4×400,4×800 meter and the shuttle hurdle relay.
The Panorama boys track team claimed first place medals in five events. Junior Spencer Hunt placed first in the 200 and 400-meter dash events, clocking times of 23.97 and 53.47 seconds respectively. Luke South won both the 110 and 400-meter hurdles, registering 16.83 in the sprints and 1:02.16 in the quarter-mile. Dan Jensen claimed the Panthers lone field event victory in the shot put with a top measured throw of 47’2″.
