The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular budgeting session Thursday. The Board approved three bridge replacement projects.
The first project, in Victory Township, will replace four existing bridges with culverts at an estimated cost of $500,000. County Engineer Josh Sebern says this large conversion project will relieve some drainage headaches in that area of the County. The estimated start date for the project is July 5th, and Sebern anticipates many bidders. The second project is a single culvert conversion in Grant Township, with an estimated cost of $135,000. That project is expected to start August 1st. The final project on Adair Road will replace an existing culvert with an estimated cost of around $420,000. The project has an estimated start date of September 3rd and will cause some road closures. All three projects will go to bid May 1st and will be funded by Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds.
Sebern also presented the Lake Panorama Traffic Study. The study shows high traffic levels, particularly on weekends during the summer months. Sebern would like to investigate the possibility of adding hard surfacing to some of the roads, should further testing warrant the changes. The Board concluded the meeting by reviewing bids for fence repairs at the County Farm. The Board received four bids, but made no formal action on the matter until all bid details are finalized.
