The deadline has passed for individuals to file for the upcoming primary election for county offices.
There are five positions open in Dallas County this year, and several candidates have thrown their hats into the ring to be considered. For County Supervisor District 1, incumbent Brad Golightly of Perry will be the only republican on the primary ballot, while Breanna Morman of Dawson and Ryan Morrison of Urbandale will be on the democrat ballot. There are no democrats running for the Supervisor District 3 seat, though republican incumbent Kim Chapman of Adel will be challenged in the primary by Robert Greenway of DeSoto and Gene Krumm of Earlham.
For County Attorney, there won’t be any competition in the primaries, but we will see a contested race in the November general election, as democratic incumbent Wayne Reisetter of Adel will be on the ballot opposite republican challenger Chuck Sinnard of Urbandale. Finally, republican incumbents Mitch Hambleton of Dallas Center and Chad Airhart of Waukee will run unopposed in the primary and general elections for County Treasurer and Recorder, respectively.
The primary election will be held on June 5th. You must be a registered member of your chosen party in order to vote in the election.
