The invitational season got off to a great start for the ACGC girls track and field team as four Chargers took home first place finishes in Jefferson Tuesday. Reagan Rumelhart, Kate Crawford, Mady Smith, and Mady McDermott all came out on top in their events at the Greene County Earlybird.

Rumelhart edged out North Polk’s Kara Gorham by one-one hundredth of a second to take the 100 meter dash title at 14.49 seconds. The Chargers swept the 100 meter disciplines as senior Mady Smith took the hurdles title at 17.72 seconds. Sophomore Kate Crawford continued her dominance in the long distance disciplines, winning the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:16.61. She finished nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Junior Mady McDermott rounded out the Chargers in the winners circle with her second top finish of the season in the shot put. Her best throw was 35-11, nearly two feet longer than fellow West Central Activities Conference athlete Allea Klauenberg of Ogden. McDermott also finished in 2nd in the discus with a throw of 94-10.

Other top three finishes include: Emma Swanson with a third place finish in the 1500 meter run, Audrey Stowe with a third place finish in the 400 meter hurdles, and two top three finishes in relay events. The team accumulated 59 points for a third place finish overall. The girls will join the boys tonight for the Perry Invitational with first events starting at 4:30pm.
