The Panora City Council met in regular session Monday.
The Council approved the final reading on an ordinance banning the operation of golf carts on City streets. They also approved an Industrial User Wastewater Discharge permit for Crystal Freeze Dry, LLC. This is a standard permit aimed at transparency between the City, the Department of Natural Resources, and the business. There is no cost to the business for the five-year permit, however the City paid $1,500 to draft it.
The Council then discussed a City-owned lot at 101 East Market Street. The lot is a single family dwelling and is one of four currently owned by the City. The other three include: one on Clay Street to help in stormwater development; a small one near LakeSide Floors on Market Street; and one near Crafty’s Coffee & Gifts, behind the business district, for future electrical expansion. Mayor Patrick Parker encouraged City Administrator Lisa Grossman to work with Region XII Council of Governments on developing the lot for a future sale.
The Council also continued their discussion on sidewalk and maintenance programs. No formal action was taken as a result of the discussion. Grossman also informed the Council she had received the housing needs assessment from Region XII. The meeting concluded with a tour of new automated cots at the Emergency Medical Services station.
