Everyone is invited to the Greene County Middle School play tonight and tomorrow.
The play, “Haphazardly Ever After” is written by Jeff Fluharty. Director Tammy Brophy says the play is about a king and a queen who have four unruly children. The royal couple has tried everything to control their children in wanting a fairytale ending. However, when the queen buys a potion for a “do-it-yourself” cure, the kids drink the wrong potion and mishaps occur, but it ends happily ever after.
There are 23 sixth through eighth grade students involved in the play, both on and behind the stage. Brophy talks about how rehearsals have been going since mid-January.
“The rehearsals have been going pretty good. We’ve had some incidents with flu and colds. But for the most part we have a very dedicated group of sixth, seventh and eighth graders that are ad-libbing, have added some different lines in and they’ve really taken to their different characters. They are having a lot of fun with it and they’re getting anxious and excited for Friday night.”
Tonight’s show is at 4:30pm and Friday’s show is at 7pm at the high school auditorium in Jefferson. The cost is a free-will donation to help support the cost of scripts, props and costumes.
