The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
The Board approved placing Home Base Iowa signs on state highways entering the county. Four will be placed along Highway 141, one at the west and east county entrances on Highway 44, and one on Highway 25 at the south entrance between Menlo and Casey. The Board also requested six additional signs for county roads. Each sign costs $45, for a total cost of $585.
The sign placings are part of the process to be designated a Home Base Iowa county. The organization’s goal is to help veterans transition back into the workforce by offering career connections and other employment resources. Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Gomez also informed the Board that several businesses were willing to sponsor the initiative with various incentive packages. Guthrie hopes to be designated as a Home Base Iowa County this year.
