Guthrie Center SignThe Guthrie Center City Council met in regular session Monday.

The Council approved updates to the City’s Code of Ordinances. This is a routine procedure, aimed at cleaning up language and changes in Iowa mandates. All three readings were passed during the public hearing with no objection. The Council also denied a tax lien waiver request by the property owner at 907 Main Street. The owner made the request to waive the liens brought about by outstanding mowing charges. The Council did however approve taking the property off the City’s mowing list.

The Council also accepted a bid for just over $1800 to remove four trees on Prairie Street. Finally, Becky Benton with State Street Insurance updated the Council on Workers Compensation through the Iowa Communities Assurance Pool.
