Before Panorama High School started offering soccer as a spring sports option this year, the community created a club soccer program for youth of all ages. The Panorama Soccer Club welcomes any child ages four through 18 wanting to learn the skills and rules of the sport in a fun and socially stimulating environment to join their organization. The Raccoon Valley Radio Network spoke to senior members of Panorama boys soccer program Friday night about several topics including the Panorama Soccer Club. Sam Webster started playing club soccer for Panorama in elementary school and describes the program as more accommodative than competitive. “(It’s) more fun soccer, not so much serious,” Webster said, “We learned some skills, but we are still learning a lot today.”

When asked what skills they’ve picked up since high school soccer practice began, Blaine Barber said they’ve worked at length on ball control and communication. “You have to work as a team a lot more in high school soccer,” Barber said, “In rec, it’s more give and go, you sail down the field and score a goal. You can’t really do that in high school ball.”

The program debut of Panorama boys soccer is tomorrow when the Panthers travel to Neloa for a nonconference match against Tri-Center.
