Everyone is invited to the annual Greene County Elementary Spring Program on Thursday.

This year’s theme is “Choose Kindness and Respect.” Co-organizer Lori Danner explains how they chose the theme.

“Kindness and respect is a major theme throughout the whole school system this year. So when Miss (Sue) Turner, Mr. (Kevin) Richards, Miss (Susie) Cunningham, and I were discussing our theme this year we decided, ‘Why don’t we try to go with that?’ And the kids and the discussions that we have had during the class, during the preparation with the songs, what they mean, has been very rewarding for all of us.”

There are different times available for each of the performances, which will be held in the middle school gym. First and second grades will perform at 10am and 6pm., while third and fourth grades will perform at 1:30pm and 7:15pm. Danner says the change in performance times is to help deal with overcrowding.

“It’s going to be very, very crowded in that middle school gym if we would try to have all first, second, third and fourth (grades) at the same time. The evening time, once the first and second grade program has started, there will probably be no one that’s going to be allowed to enter the gym, just because its performance time. If you are apart of the third and fourth grade parents or students, might have to just wait awhile until we finish.”

All performances are free and open to the public.
