Former Jefferson-Scranton baseball standout John Hupp has been hired to head the Greene County baseball program. The Rams were 14-13 last season under former longtime coach Mark Sawhill, whom Hupp played for. The 2017 Rams won a first round Class 3A District tournament game over ADM before falling in the District final to eventual State runner-up Harlan at Harlan.
Activities Director Mitch Moore talked to Raccoon Valley Radio about Coach Hupp. “Of course he played baseball right here in our community, and played at Simpson College and was a good player there. He brings a ton of baseball knowledge. Coach Hupp and I have really gotten to know each other over the past month. He’s a really organized guy and fits right in with our culture. He’s very demanding of his players and he wants things done the right way. He’s going to be great for that program.”
Pitchers and catchers are throwing now, and full practice with the entire squad begins on Monday, April 30.
