The Jefferson Rotary Club met Monday for their weekly session.

The meeting started with recognition of a new member with Jefferson Building Official Nick Sorensen. Then Executive Co-Chairs Matt and Toni Wetrich gave an update on the Register’s Annual Great Bike Ride Across Iowa (RAGBRAI) and the overnight stop in Jefferson on July 23rd.

Matt said RAGBRAI is the longest-standing, oldest and largest bike ride event in the world. It includes participants from all 50 states, and Washington D.C., along with 21 countries. About 40-percent of the participants are from Iowa. Matt also touched on the fact that for overnight stops, churches usually average about $20,000 through fundraisers after RAGBRAI goes through. It was also mentioned that the logo and theme for Jefferson will be unveiled on April 23rd.
