Registrations are now open for this year’s Greene County Relay for Life 5K run/walk.
It will be held during the main event on Saturday, April 21st at the Greene County Community Center. Like in previous years, the route will remain the same, but there are a few new additions to fit into the theme of “Who is Your Hero?” One new aspect is giving children ages 12 and under the opportunity to run in the “Heroes in Training” route around the downtown square in Jefferson, while wearing a cape to show-off their superhero powers. Another new twist is having all participants wear a costume for several contests. Prizes will be awarded for: best individual costume, best duo (two things that go together) and best team (of three or more).
The cost to participate, on or before April 13th, is $20 for those ages 13 and older and $10 for anyone 12-years-old or younger. After April 13th, prices then go up to $25 and $15 respectively.
Check-ins will start at 9:30am on April 21st, with the “Heroes in Training” race to begin at 10:30am, after the survivor walk at 10:20. The 5K portion will then start at 10:45.
Registration forms are available at the Greene County Community Center, at any county library or by clicking the link below. Forms must be submitted to the community center.
