A local student currently attending Iowa State University recently received one of seven scholarships from the Iowa Concrete Paving Association (ICPA).
The ICPA announced the scholarship recipients at their 54th annual Concrete Paving Workshop last month. Hunter Mandernach, an ISU student from Adel, was one of those honored. The scholarships were awarded to students attending one of the three public universities in Iowa, who are majoring in Civil and Construction Engineering, and/or Construction Management. The scholarships range from $1,500 to $2,500, and were given based on criteria such as need, civil or construction engineering experience, and an intent to enter the construction field in Iowa.
The ICPA is a state-run organization whose purpose is to assist in the development of future construction management for the highway construction industry. The annual workshop is one of the largest concrete pavement forums in the country.
