Panorama-Panthers-Picture112An interior transformation is coming to the Panorama School District. At the most recent school board meeting, Instructional Coach Kylee Boettcher gave a presentation on turning the high school’s atrium into a library and learning center. The project is a result of using Makerspace technology to help fill a portion of the atrium as part of a “Cardboard Challenge” competition. The challenge asked students to come up with innovative ways to use that unallocated space.

Boettcher talked about the amount of student involvement going into the project. “They’re going to get a lot of the ideas that came from the ‘Cardboard Challenge’ in this new space. We had students then go through in the Interior Design Class and they created a floor plan of what the space would look like and what type of materials and furniture they would need in there. Just recently they sent out fabric colors for the students to choose so they’ve had a voice in that as well.”

The District hopes to have structures and pieces from the students’ ideas in place by the beginning of 2019. Boettcher says the project will not have to require any additional funds outside the normal budget. The current library would be used as study hall space.
