Hotel Pattee hosted the first big event under their new management on Saturday, with their first annual “Luck of the Iowish” party for St. Patrick’s Day.
The hotel ballroom was filled with around 50 people anxious to take part in some Iowa-themed trivia, with several prizes awarded to the teams. There was also karaoke, music, and a free photo booth. Additionally, attendees were treated to an extensive buffet featuring hors d’oeuvres inspired by Iowa, as well as drinks including green beer.
Hotel Pattee Event Planner Mica Hickey said the idea for the party came from the D.J. for the event, Shane Majors, who sent her a monogram with the state of Iowa in a St. Patrick’s Day theme, and “Luck of the Iowish” was born. She was happy with how the event went this year, though she had hoped for a few more attendees. However, she felt they laid a good foundation for future parties. “Part of this event is the newness, so people didn’t really know what to expect. But we’re really excited for people to talk to their friends, and to their neighbors, and to the community, about how much fun they had this evening. And then step up our prizes for next year!”
Hickey added, the next event at the Hotel Pattee will be their first ever Easter Brunch on April 1st. She’s hopeful the series of new events will bring in many new people to the hotel, so they can see everything it has to offer.
