Scranton Welcome SignThe City of Scranton received a grant to help improve the City’s infrastructure needs.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority awarded a Community Development Block Grant of $300,000 toward the $2,160,000 project to improve the City’s wastewater treatment system. The project will also utilize funds from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources State Revolving Loan Funds. The CDBG funds were awarded based on the project’s benefit to low and moderate income individuals, financial needs, project impact and readiness and the commitment of local resources. Region XII Council of Governments assisted in writing the grant application.

The Iowa Economic Development Authority gave out a total of $3.1 million in CDBG funds to nine communities in the state.
