A two-time state champion sprinter highlights the returning track athletes for the Adel-Desoto-Minburn Tigers girls squad. Senior Keaton Kester is Class 3A’s returning state champion in the 100 meter and 200-meter dashes, setting the state record in the 200 with a time of 24.72 seconds. Kester was also a Class 2A state champion in both events in 2016 as a member of the Earlham Cardinals girls track squad.
ADM girls track coach Bart Mueller spoke with Raccoon Valley Radio earlier this week about preseason storylines ahead of the Tigers outdoor season later this month. He says Kester is a scholarship type, division one athlete whose dedicated herself to the sport. “She does (track) all season long,” Mueller said, “She runs the summer circuit and went to the national event in Kansas.”
Kester is one of three seniors returning who qualified last spring for the state track and field meet. Sami Schepers qualified for state as an individual the 100-meter hurdles and as a member of the shuttle hurdle and 4×100 meter relay teams. Finally, Elise Mueller competed at the blue oval as a member of the 4×800 meter relay team. The ADM girls track team opens their outdoor season Monday, March 26, competing in the Earlham Early Bird Invitational.
