The indoor track & field season continues for the Greene County track & field teams. The school district is on Spring Break all week, but the track & field athletes have two meets on the schedule. The girls go to the Iowa State University High School Classic today inside the Lied Recreation Center in Ames, and the boys go there tomorrow. Both Ram teams will go to Storm Lake this Saturday the 17th for the Buena Vista University high school indoor meet.
Girls’ coach Derek Merk will have several events, but not the entire squad at Ames today. Action starts at 3 p.m. and is scheduled to end before 8 tonight. One of the first events is the high jump, where Greene County senior Megan Durbin is scheduled to be in the field. She jumped 5′ 2″ at this meet a year ago, but had already cleared 5′ 3″ indoors a week ago at the A.D. Dickinson Relays in Cedar Falls. Durbin is the most accomplished high jumper in program history and is an Iowa State University recruit.
