Perry School Board 2-12

Perry High School’s Dewey Field doesn’t look like much right now, but that’s all about to change as construction on the new complex is set to begin soon.

Superintendent Clark Wicks says they have a pre-construction meeting scheduled for March 23rd. The meeting will include representatives from the District, construction managers Larson Engineering, and the contractors assigned to the project, Lang Construction Group and Seating and Athletic Facility Enterprises. Construction will then begin on April 2nd, which Wicks believes will bring a great deal of excitement. “I think people, once they see that, will be able to kind of capture the whole idea of what we’re trying to do. And that is develop that Bluejay pride and that Bluejay atmosphere in that Dewey Complex.”

The District is still working on fundraising for phase one of the project, which will cost just under $1.1 million. Wicks says in addition to the large donations and matching funds, they’ve raised around $30,000 through an assortment of fundraisers. If anyone would like to donate to the project, he says there are a few options. “You can always call the School Administration Center, you can call Mr. (Tom) Lipovac, you can call me. You can go on our school website, and you can just click on there to donate, to understand what the project is. Main thing is, if you’re unsure just give us a call. Number two, the website. And that should get it done!”

Phase one of the project includes a new entryway, concession and restroom building, 1,050-seat expansion to the northside bleachers, and a two-story press box.
