The Perry and Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Speech Teams will be participating in the State Individual Speech Competition, held tomorrow at Nevada High School.

Both Perry and ADM are sending 14 entries to the competition, after the participants received “I” ratings at the recent District Competition in Boone. The Perry team will have four students taking part in two different events, including: Kaylynn Bousman in spontaneous speaking and storytelling; Rylynn Gilmore in poetry and prose; Ainsley Marburger in improvisational acting and solo musical theater; and Madison Mason in original oratory and radio news.

ADM also has four double-qualifiers, including: Abby Mullen in prose and storytelling; Emily Pottebaum in after dinner speaking and expository address; Rachel Suarez in after dinner speaking and solo musical theater; and Nathan Wedemeyer in poetry and storytelling. The State Competition is open to the public, with events happening throughout the day. The first performers from both schools will take part in 8 a.m. sessions, with the last performances coming in a session starting at 3:25 p.m. There is a $3 suggested donation to gain entry to the event, with all proceeds going to Nevada High School for hosting.

Those who receive “I” ratings and judge recommendations at State will advance to the All-State Festival, held on Monday, March 26th at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls. See below for a full list of Perry and ADM students competing tomorrow and their events.
