With the girl’s basketball season wrapping up over the weekend, the coaches of the West Central Activities Conference are allowed to release the names of players who received postseason honors. West Central Valley head coach Drew Stonewall shared Raccoon Valley Radio the list of Wildcat basketball players who made this year’s squad. Stonewall says senior Grace Dupuy represents the Wildcats on the first team All-WCAC squad. Sophomore Sydney Neal was named to the conference’s second team squad, and seniors Taylor Beane and Kennedy Lose received honorable mention honors.
Dupuy was the primary scoring option for West Central Valley, scoring 318 points, an average of 15.1 points per game. Her 56 blocks are tied with Des Moines Christian’s Kaili Lawson for the most inside the West Central Activities Conference while her 183 rebounds are the second-most recorded in the league.
Neal was the top rebounder in the West Central Activities Conference this winter, securing 185 possessions for the Wildcat. She was the second leading scorer for West Central Valley with 190 points scored, an average of nine points per game.
The West Central Valley girls basketball team finished the season with an overall record of 9-12, ending their season in the regional tournament against the Van Meter Bulldogs, 56-40, on February 10 in Stuart. The Wildcats lose Beane, Dupuy, Lose and Bailey Burris to graduation.
