A recent graduate of Adel-Desoto-Minburn Community Schools is making positive impressions on the coaching staff of the Grand View Women’s Basketball this winter. Sydney Bertman, a 2017 ADM alum, received minutes off the bench in 26 of Grand View’s 33 regular season games. Bertman tallied 113 points, an average of 4.4 per game, converting 26 of her 29 free throw attempts. She’s also corralled 68 total rebounds, dished out 41 assists, and swiped 30 steals.

Bertman’s collegiate coach, Kelli Greenway, was a guest on Monday Night’s Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page and admits the first year player from Dallas County surprised her and the other coaches. “We knew that she was an all-around solid athlete coming in, and we were late in the recruiting process; we knew she was a phenomenal soccer player as well.” Greenway said, “We were happy to hear she wanted to continue playing basketball at the college level.”

Greenway adds Bertman’s minutes fluctuated throughout the season depending on matchups and the play of other role players on the team but says her athleticism was an asset to the Lady Vikings this winter. The Grand View Women’s basketball program finished the regular season with a 23-10 overall record. The Lady Vikings will find out today whether they earned an at-large bid into the NAIA Division I Women’s basketball tournament.
