Yesterday Adair County residents ventured out to the polls to vote on a special election bond for the courthouse elevator project. After the unofficial results were tallied, they voted in favor of the bond which would allocate an additional maximum of $650,000 for the project.
Of the 277 votes cast, 63.2% voted in favor of the increase. The measure needed at least 60% support to be enacted. These results will remain unofficial until the votes are canvassed by the Adair County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, March 13th. The County has already collected $600,000 off a bond sale from last May. However, all five bids for the project came in well above the $600,000 limit, with the lowest just shy of $750,000.
