An Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center freshman has earned a special opportunity, right before summer vacation. At the Western Iowa Science and Engineering Fair in Sheldon this past Saturday, Jenna Andersen qualified for the International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF).
Andersen won the International Science Fair Observer Award and received 2nd place overall for her project, “How Much Iron is in Your Cereal.” There were other AC/GC students who took home awards. Fellow freshman Kashish Patel received the Intel Excellence in Computer Science and Best in Computer Science awards, along with $200, for her project, “Sudoku Solver.” Junior Madison Suhr earned three awards for her project on water pollution. The awards include: the NASA Earth System Science Award, the National Oceanic medal, and the US Stockholm Junior Water Prize Award.
The international fair is May 13-19th in Pittsburgh. All eleven participants from AC/GC competed in their first regional fair and each took home an award.
