Workers at the Tyson Foods plant in Perry will reap the benefits of the recent federal tax overhaul, which was signed into law earlier this year.
The Arkansas-based company, which has plants across the United States, expects to save over $300 million in taxes due to the new tax laws. Tyson’s corporate leaders decided to spread those savings between more than 100,000 employees, including those at the Perry plant. All full-time employees who do not receive an annual bonus will get a one-time $1,000 bonus. Additionally, a $500 bonus will be given to all part-time workers. Any remaining money will be used for improving training and education, which will include teaching English as a second language.
Tyson is one of a few nationwide employers who decided to allocate their tax savings to their employees.
