Students in the Greene County High School FFA Chapter competed at the District FFA Contest Saturday.

Advisor Katie Akers says Kendall Fecher received a silver rating for Creed Speaking and Nic Killion earned a bronze rating for welding. Both unfortunately didn’t qualify to move onto the state contest in April. However, Akers points out that Greene County FFA President Gwen Black will receive the Iowa Degree at the state convention next month at Hilton Coliseum on the Iowa State University campus.

In order to earn the third-highest honor that an FFA’er can achieve, with the National and American Degrees being the highest, Black had to fulfill several requirements, including receiving the Chapter FFA Degree and being an active member in FFA for two years. She also has completed at least 360-hours of systematic school instruction in Agriculture Education, while also doing at least 25 additional community service hours with at least two different community service activities.
