adair county courthouseToday Adair County residents will head to the polls to vote on a bond referendum for a new courthouse elevator. This election is a result of a feasibility study conducted in August of 2016. The results from the study concluded that the courthouse would need a new elevator at an estimated cost of $556,000. The County has already collected $600,000 off a bond sale from last May. However, all five bids for the project came in well above the $600,000 limit, with the lowest just shy of $750,000. Thus, the special election will call for a bond not to exceed an additional $650,000.

Polls open at 7am and close at 8pm this evening. Stuart residents will vote at the Stuart Recreational Center, Adair residents will vote at the Adair Community Centre, and Greenfield will vote at the Adair County Health and Fitness Center. All absentee ballots should have already been turned into the County Auditor’s Office in Greenfield. Be sure to tune into KKRF tonight for the preliminary results at 9, 10, and 11pm. Contact the Auditor’s Office for more information.
