Thursday evening, the Perry community came together for “Business After Hours,” an event hosted by the Chamber of Commerce, Perry Economic Development, Hotel Pattee, and La Poste.
After a social time, Economic Development member Matt McDevitt emceed a program for the attendees. McDevitt talked about the growth of the City, as well as exciting new developments. Economic Development Vice President and Raccoon Valley Radio General Manager John McGee then spoke, explaining what the organization does, including: existing business retention and expansion; new business attraction; community development and housing; and marketing and partnerships. McGee also went over Perry’s recent accomplishments.
The next speaker was Chamber Board President Emily Leslie, who introduced the new Chamber Executive Director Lynsi Pasutti. The introductions continued after that, as new Hotel Pattee Owner Tom Maxwell introduced himself and his new General Manager, Aaron Lenz. Each of the new leaders said they’ve liked what they’ve seen of the community so far, and are excited to get started. La Poste Co-Owner Jenny Eklund then gave a speech, offering her welcome to Maxwell, and her heartfelt appreciation for previous Hotel Pattee Owners, Jay and Denise Hartz.
McGee and McDevitt then presented a gift to the Hartzes on behalf of the City. Jay and Denise were touched by the kind words and gift, and offered their farewells and thanks to the community for being so supportive of them over the years. The evening concluded with more social time, and La Poste’s weekly Handlebar Happy Hour. Leslie indicated they would like to hold more “Business After Hours” events in the future, possibly every few months.
