The athletic director at West Central Valley Community Schools is taking over a new role in his school’s sports department. During last month’s meeting of the West Central Valley Board of Education, the board agreed to the motion of Dave Doley becoming the next boy’s golf coach of the district. Doley taped a preseason interview with Raccoon Valley Radio Monday afternoon and discussed his background in the sport. “I played high school golf at Sheldon, where I graduated, and really enjoyed playing golf,” Doley said, “I had some success at the high school level and continued that at Simpson (College) where I played one year before transferring up to UNI to become a teacher.”
Doley adds what he enjoys about the sport is you’re essentially competing against yourself, and it teaches you valuable life lessons like disciple and accountability. Hear more from Doley on the next Karl Chevrolet of Stuart Guthrie County PM Sports Page, Monday evening at 6 p.m. on True Country K 107.9.
