acgcYesterday we previewed returning athletes for the ACGC girls track team. Today we take a look at those coming back to the boys team.

Junior Dylan Soper returns for his third season to lead the Charger sprinters. The anchor for the state 4×200 meter relay team, Soper led all Chargers in the 100 and 200 meter dash. Senior Logan Brinks looks to enter the spring season after healing from a football season riddled with injury and illness. Brinks posted the fastest time for runners in the gold and black in the 400, and was a top three runner for ACGC in the 100 and 200.

The middle distance events will be arguably the strongest for the Charger boys. Most of the runners from this year’s state cross country contingent will run the ovals this spring. Leading the charge are a pair of juniors who were on last year’s state 4×800 meter relay team: Noah Nelsen and Clay Billheimer. Both Nelsen and Billheimer will also be team favorites on the 800 and 1600 disciplines.

As for the throwers, a quartet of Chargers return to handle the shot put and discus. Sophomore Quynton Younker and Senior Collin Stowe posted the best shot put and discus throws respectively. Last but certainly not least, senior Caden Wardyn will return for the Chargers. Wardyn recorded the third longest long jump in the conference last season and also ran on the state 4×200 meter relay.
