With numerous concerts and speech competitions, the arts in Guthrie and Adair counties are thriving so far in 2018. Visual arts will get an opportunity to see the spotlight for the next month. The Warren Cultural Center will host the All Media School Art Competition and Exhibit.
The March exhibit features artwork from five school districts. The districts participating include: Adair-Casey/Guthrie Center, West Central Valley, Nodaway Valley, Southwest Valley, and Orient-Macksburg. As of Tuesday, the exhibit received 20 submissions from the five participating districts.
Competition winners, as well as their teachers, will take home cash prizes. The winning student will receive $25 and the classroom teacher will receive $50. Second place will receive $20 and $40 respectively and third place will receive $15 and $30 respectively. The prizes for the teachers will go towards the purchase of classroom supplies.
The winners will be announced at a reception on Thursday, March 29th, beginning at 4pm in the Lobby Gallery. The public is invited to attend and the center will look to make this an annual event.
