Jefferson Police are investigating an incident that happened at the end of the school day at Greene County High School.
Superintendent Tim Christensen tells Raccoon Valley Radio at the end of the school day, around 3:20pm, a student texted another student, who was at a high school music event in Nevada, that someone was “shooting up the school.” A call was then made to the high school, which created a panic, but Christensen notes that the text was not credible and at no time was anyone in danger and there was no issue at the high school.
Christensen says the student who sent the alleged text has been identified and the Jefferson Police Department was contacted and are handling the incident. Christensen adds that they are going to press charges and he has no tolerance for situations like this.
Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
