The Perry High School Cheer Squad and Dance Team members were recently honored for their academic achievements.

Five cheerleaders received academic honors, including Gabby Chavez and Breanna Penenger in basketball and Fatima Hurtado, Rylynn Gilmore, and Carly Herrera in wrestling. Each of the honorees was a letter winner with a GPA over 3.25. Additionally, the wrestling squad was awarded the Team Distinguished Academic Achievement Award for having a cumulative GPA over 3.25.

The dance team had ten members receive academic honors, and also received the team award. Honorees include Chloe Ballard, Kaylynn Bousman, Ciera Bronnenberg, Gabby Chavez, Star Love, Emily Debord, Delaney Eiteman, Beyonce Gonzalez, Elaine Thomason, and Katelyn Thomason. Additionally, Bronnenberg, Eiteman, and Love were selected to the Iowa High School Dance and Drill Team All-Iowa Squad. The trio will perform Friday and Saturday at the Girls State Basketball Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena.
