Last week three school districts in Guthrie County celebrated National FFA Week. However, one of the busiest days of the year for the Panorama chapter happens this coming Saturday. Panorama High School will host the Southwest District Convention on Saturday, March 3rd.
Members from 33 schools will adorn blue and gold attire as they participate in various contests, meetings, and breakout sessions. Panorama FFA Advisor Evan Babcock tells Raccoon Valley Radio it will be an extremely busy day, but they are honored to host this year’s convention. While this is an important event on the calendar, Babcock knows this is all just a part of developing students for future success after high school. “I am a agriculture teacher, but my main priority is not necessarily the ‘cows, sows, and plows’ of agriculture. It’s more of trying to teach kids how to work and be responsible and keep track of things and take a project from point A to point B and have it finished. I think those skills can be relatable to any career.”
Among last week’s festivities, students participated in Ag Olympics Wednesday and served a staff and community appreciation breakfast Thursday.
