national weather service

A winter weather advisory has been issued for Dallas, Greene, and Guthrie counties from now until 9 p.m. this evening.

The National Weather Service says a winter storm will impact our listening area through tonight, with a possible mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain. Ice accumulation of up to one-tenth of an inch is expected, making for slick road conditions. They also warn of reduced visibility at times due to blowing snow. Currently roads in Guthrie and Greene counties are partially covered with ice, while Dallas County roads have seasonal conditions, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation. Road conditions may continue to deteriorate throughout the rest of today, and motorists are urged to drive accordingly.

The DOT reminds motorists to give plow crews plenty of room as they clear the roads of snow and ice. Listen to Raccoon Valley Radio for winter weather updates throughout the day, as well as the latest cancellation and delay information.
