The Greene County School District has had a busy month of February.
The middle school students recently had some hands-on experiences with the scientific method. Instructor Spencer Bauer had students apply the scientific method (observation, measurement, experimentation, along with formulation, testing and modifying their hypotheses) to create a sail car that was propelled by wind from a fan. The goal of the project was to teach the students how the scientific method works and how to apply it to a project.
Some high school students had the opportunity to hear CDS Global Vice-President of Client Services Erin Westergaard. She spoke to Julie Carlson’s public speaking classes, as well as students with Business Education teacher Teresa Green. Westergaard talked about her experiences dealing with the American Heart Association and the Salvation Army, as a few of her clients. She pointed out the need for not only a quality education, but also putting in hard work and developing people skills in the workforce.
Finally, the 2018 Ram Restaurant season is off and running at the high school. Culinary students are once again creating dishes for people to purchase during lunch time, from 11:30am to 1pm Tuesdays through Thursdays. Ram Restaurant is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. Cost for the meals is $7. Take out orders are available, along with valet services if dining in. Reservations can be made by calling the high school, emailing instructor Brandon Gustoff at gusthoffb@greenecountycsd.net or by clicking the link below.
