panoraThe Panora City Council met in regular session Monday. Following a review of the proposed 2019 fiscal year budget, the Council set a public hearing for their February 26th meeting at 6:30pm. They also approved a 3% increase in salaries for all city employees and increases for certifications for water and wastewater licensing. The Council also approved: an endorsement and subsequent grant application for the Lenon Mill Dam project, and accepting the low bid from Drake Roofing Incorporated for repair and replacement of the water plant roof.   

Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Gomez also made a presentation of their 2017 projects and campaigns. Highlighted components included: small business blitzes, annual conferences, entrepreneurial development, and high school outreach and workforce development. Mayor Patrick Parker and the rest of the Council discussed ways Panora can better serve business interests.

The Council concluded the meeting with a discussion on operating golf carts on City streets. The Council brought up liability concerns expressed by the City’s insurance provider and the City Attorney. No formal action was taken on this topic.
