ADM junior Andrew Flora at 113 lbs. and Madrid sophomore Cody Fisher wrestling for Woodward-Granger at 195 lbs. are already in the finals of the Iowa High School State Tournament tomorrow night. They punched their tickets with semifinal victories Friday afternoon in Class 2A.
Tonight, Class 3A and 1A area wrestlers Kaleb Olejniczak (126) and Zach Stewart (138) of Perry in 3A, along with Trevor Carey (182) of Panorama in 1A, have semifinal matches upcoming. A victory means a trip to the finals in front of a sold out Wells Fargo Arena, while a loss still means placing on the podium anywhere from third to sixth place.
Others Raccoon Valley Radio will follow tonight on all three radio stations plus streamed on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com are two from Dallas Center-Grimes in 3A in Zane Mulder at 160 and Zach Needham at 182 in the 3A consolation third round. Four others from Panorama have joined Carey as top eight place winners in 1A. They are Danny Nordquist (126), Wyatt Appleseth (132), Gunnar Grunsted (170), and Dalton Holmes (195).
A win in the consolation third round means a finish as high as third is still possible. A loss in that round means either a seventh or eighth place finish.
