An Iowa lawmaker has pled guilty to an OWI charge from last month.
According to online court documents, State Representative Chip Baltimore entered a written plea of guilty to his first offense for an OWI and possession of a firearm while under the influence charges. The charges stem from an arrest by an Ames Police Officer on January 19th.
The Representative from Boone previously told Raccoon Valley Radio he has no intention of hiding from the situation.
“I have no excuse for making that decision. I’m not trying to justify it in anyway or excuse it. I will be and am taking full responsibility for that decision in all manners possible.”
Soon after the arrest and initial appearance, Baltimore was removed by Iowa House Speaker Linda Upmeyer as chair of the House Judiciary Committee.
