The annual Perry Chocolate Walk was held this past weekend, alongside the all new winter farmers market, and in spite of the weather it was considered a success.
It was the coldest weather for the event in recent memory, but the streets were still filled Friday and Saturday with people seeking chocolatey treats at the local businesses. Extending the event to two days was also something new this year, and Chamber of Commerce Board President Emily Leslie says they succeeded in bringing in people who wouldn’t have been able to take part otherwise.
“We’re excited to be able to offer that two-day option. We kind of did a survey on Friday to see you know, have you shopped the Chocolate Walk before, or have you participated in it before. And a lot of those members that participated had not, because they were busy on Saturday, so they liked the Friday option! So we’re really excited about how it went this year. With the farmers market, they’ve had nice traffic, too. So yeah, I think it’s a go forward for us!”
Looking ahead to next year, Leslie says they might look into possibly expanding the winter farmers market. The Towncraft building was filled to capacity with vendors, so she thinks they might look into an additional location for it.
